what we do

ISA TRAINS COACHES AND YOUTH TO DISCOVER AND HONE THEIR TALENTS. WHERE ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS, A TRANSFORMATION IS MADE ON THE SPORTS FIELD AND BEYOND.

ISA believes that the youth in underprivileged areas already have what it takes to be the change their worlds need. They just need encouragement and a push in the right direction. That all happens on the sports field, where dedication + motivation = success. During a football match, a game of basketball or a frisbee toss, coaches help youth discover what they can achieve.

On the sports field young people acquire essential skills such as creativity, teamwork, communication, talent, character and a good dose of self-confidence. The skills that young people score on the sports field can be used to make a difference at home and in their communities. The power of sport is seen as these young people become game changers.

CHANGE IN 3 STEPS

01

Game Programme

For all young people to participate in their community | We believe playing sports boosts youth participation and ultimately is the very first step towards youth leadership.

  • In the communities we work, we see that young people hardly have opportunities to participate. However, sports provide them with a space in their community, where they connect to positive people, and with visibility at the playground – where they discover their talents and show their potential. By playing sports young people have the opportunity to have fun, be active and team-up. Within our Game programme, ISA realises various community sports for youth. Besides, we build quality coaches, invest in sustainable community sports structures and work towards vibrant communities where multiple sports opportunities are available. Often in places where community sports lacked completely.

02

Change programme

For young people to gain personal power | We believe that at the playground young people can build their personal power. Life skills attained at the playground, can also be used to reflect, to make choices and to act accordingly and ultimately to influence one’s own life.

  • At the playground, in play and sports, we provide young people with life skills education. Within our Change programme, ISA also builds life skill coaches, invests in organisations empowering youth and works towards communities that contribute to youth-friendly spaces.

03

Game Changers
Programme

For young people to lead social change | We believe in the potential of youth. In our Game Changers programme we support young people to realise the change they want to see in their lives and their surroundings.

  • At the playground coaches support youth in setting personal goals, in sports and beyond. We build mentors, invest in youth-centred organisations and work towards youth-friendly communities. Together with these mentors, organisations and communities, young people realise personal projects and lead social change.

THEORY OF CHANGE

ISA taps into the potential of youths by connecting where it sparks. On the playing field. In a safe, fun and enriching environment young people are encouraged to discover and master skills of their own.

There, young people are presented with opportunities to take up new roles and put their newly acquired skills in action. Then, togetherness and energy will emerge as one. We take this as a starting point from where the greatest-ever young generation will step forward, let their voice be heard and make sure they are involved in decisions that impact their future.

That is the kind of society where young people can engage; they will present themselves as resources ready to be developed, instead of problems to be solved.
